What is the Difference Between Black and Green Oil Pulling?

The Difference between Black and Green Oil

Green is the new black. Or is it the other way around? When it comes to oil pulling, both are best. Terra & Co.’s Brilliant Black oil pulling may have been our first love, but there’s a reason we gave it a green sidekick. Let’s look at the oil pulling benefits different oils provide, and why both Black and Green Oil Pulling is best for healthy mouths.

Brilliant Black Oil Pulling

First things first, why black oil pulling? Well, the black in it comes from activated charcoal, which gives the oil pulling mouthwash its teeth whitening powder. After exploring the oil pulling effects of different oils, we paired the gentle whiting powers of activated charcoal with organic extra virgin coconut oil and MCT oil.

MCT stands for medium-chain triglycerides, and they’re molecules that are smaller than most of the fats we consume, which contain long-chain triglycerides (LCT). These MCTs are easily absorbed into the bloodstream, which is why things like bulletproof coffee have become so popular!

MCT oil also contains more lipids than regular oils, which has benefits that go beyond a boost in energy. To understand how, we need to ask the question: how does oil pulling work?

Oil pulling essentially works when a natural fatty substance—like MCT oil and coconut oil—acts as a sponge to soak up bacteria in your mouth. In MCT oil’s case, because it has more lipids, it has an increased capability of drawing out more toxins—which is much better for your mouth!

Top it off with coconut oil’s antimicrobial, antiseptic, and anti-inflammatory properties, and you probably realize why we incorporated different oils for oil pulling!

Gentle Green Oil Pulling

Helping your mouth out in different ways, we’ve got our oil pulling green variety. It combines a few different oils for their oil pulling powers—and much, much more. As any plant-based, edible oils work for oil pulling, we’ve rounded up three of the most beneficial ones: moringa oil, hemp oil, and neem oil.

Neem oil may be the star of the show. Not only is it effective in grabbing toxins and bacteria like other oils, but it’s also effective in preventing cavities and gum disease. Traditionally used in India—where people would chew twigs from the Neem tree—neem oil is a treasured remedy for oral infections, sore gums, and tooth decay.

We’ve paired our proprietary trio of oils with healing probiotics to help populate good bacteria and protect the oral microbiome. Supporting your mouth even more, matcha green tea extract helps to reduce symptoms of periodontal disease.

With a unique and highly desired ability to remineralize teeth, there’s another star ingredient: nano-hydroxyapatite (nHAp).Why nano-hydroxyapatite works best during oil pulling is this: the longer it’s in your mouth, the better it works! When it’s in your mouth for up to 10 minutes, it imparts the most beneficial impacts on your mouth. The mineral binds to the inner tooth surface to stop sensitivity and remineralize microcavities.

When’s the last time a conventional mouthwash or oil pulling product could do that?
